Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- The Nēra rides just like outdoors thanks to built-in motion pods that make the bike move forwards, backwards and sideways. When you stand for a sprint or climb, your bike moves with you rather than remaining fixed in place.
- Resistance is up to 2,200 watts, which is more than enough for your fastest sprint.
- The Nēra simulates gradients of up to 20%, which is steeper than the steepest sections of the Alpe d’Huez!
- Power readings are accurate within 1%; so, if you are pedalling at 250 watts, the reading will be within 2.5 watts of that figure. This allows you to compare your training sessions properly.
- Built-in Wi-Fi ensures a fast and consistent connection throughout your virtual races in Zwift and ROUVY, without the need for a separate adapter.
- Virtual gear changes with the Zwift Cog & Click work in Zwift and ROUVY, provided you have an active subscription. If you also train in other apps, choose the cassette version so you can change your own gears in any app.

You can choose from two versions. The cassette version comes with a cassette already fitted to the trainer. The Zwift Cog & Click version comes with a single sprocket and lets you shift gears silently and virtually using the Click button on your handlebars, in Zwift and ROUVY.
Do you race virtually? Thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi, you will enjoy a rapid connection, and in race mode, the Nēra responds instantly to attacks and breakaways. If you train with the Tacx Training app, you will get 45 days’ free access to premium features, including real routes from all over the world, challenges and badges. You can also follow your Garmin Coach training plans from Garmin Connect there.
Built-in multidirectional motion
Motion pods in the trainer make your bike move forwards, backwards and sideways, just like outdoors. This means you are less restricted on your bike, and will really notice the difference during long training sessions and when sprinting out of the saddle.
Zwift Cog & Click
This version features a single sprocket on the trainer instead of a cassette. You can change gears virtually using the Click button on your handlebars; the trainer then adjusts the resistance as if you were selecting a different gear. It is a quiet system, your chain stays straight at all times, and it works in Zwift and ROUVY. You will need an active subscription for both.
Wi-Fi and race mode
The Nēra features built-in Wi-Fi for a fast and reliable connection throughout your virtual races in Zwift or ROUVY, without the need for a separate adapter. In race mode, the trainer responds extremely quickly to attacks and breakaways in the apps that support this feature.
Ideal for:
- Road cyclists, gravel riders and mountain bikers who want to train seriously indoors during the winter.
- Virtual racers on Zwift and ROUVY – enjoy the benefits of the Nēra's built-in Wi-Fi, race mode and virtual gear changes.
- Any type of cyclist who trains by power – with 1% accuracy, your Nēra is just as reliable as your outdoor power meter.
- Garmin users – pair your Edge cycle computer or smartwatch, and view your indoor and outdoor rides together in Garmin Connect.
Less suitable for:
- Riders who want to be able to use their trainer in a place without a power socket – the Nēra requires a power supply. The Tacx Neo 3M works with and without one.
- Riders who want to simulate gradients steeper than 20% using just the turbo trainer. The Tacx Neo 3M goes up to 25%. Or combine the Nēra with the Tacx Alpine gradient simulator, which goes up to 25% uphill and -10% downhill.

Not included / still required or useful:
- A subscription to a training app
- A trainer mat, fan and/or sweat catcher from our turbo trainer accessories.
- An ANT+ antenna if you want to connect to your computer via ANT+.
The instruction manual in the box guides you through the process step by step.
- Place a trainer mat under the Nēra. It absorbs sweat, protects your floor and dampens vibrations that might disturb your neighbours. You can find one under our turbo trainer accessories.
- Place a fan in front of you – there is no headwind indoors, and staying cool will help you keep going for much longer during a tough training session.
- Use ANT+ for one connection and Bluetooth for the other – for example, Zwift via Bluetooth and your cycle computer via ANT+. That way, you will not get tangled up in connections.
- Wipe your bike and the trainer dry after every session. Sweat is salty and will corrode your chain, cassette and frame.
